About N. P. Stottlemyer
Nathaniel
P. Stottlemyer was influenced by a variety of folk music traditions at
an early age while growing up amongst the picturesque Appalachian
Mountains of western Maryland. Mr. Stottlemyer is an
“accomplished performer” (Maryland Gazette) of world percussion
instruments and is a specialist in the percussion traditions of The
Middle & Near East (particularly the frame drums of Egypt and
Nubia) and is well versed in the techniques of West African,
Afro-Cuban, and Brazilian percussion. He's performed with
Shems,
Jenny Oaks Baker, N. Scott Robinson, Luis Garay's Percussion
World, Fortune Rota Percussion, The McLean Orchestra, The
Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic Orchestra, The Trinity Chamber
Orchestra, The Washington Ceremonial Brass, and The Summer Opera
Theatre Company Opera Orchestra, among others. His
performance
experience includes appearances at The John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts, The Music Center at Strathmore, The Baltimore Museum
of Art, The Basilica of the
National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, The Franciscan Monastery
of the Holy Land, Saint Matthew's Cathedral, and The Chesapeake Arts
Center. He is a featured soloist on the DVD,
“Sestraluna –
A Belly Dance Show” (2009, Candlelight Productions). His
album
credits include Crevel (2010, Independent) and The Catholic
University of America, "Wind Serenade” (2000, CUA). More...
